KNOWN BUGS

  • older iPad that are running iOS 12.4 have issues with the radar working - fixed in 5.12 - please upgrade
  • some Android devices running version OS 10 have issues with the hourly forecast. It is blank for some hours and dates. - fixed in 5.12 - please upgrade

• July 20 if you mix metric and imperial settings for temperature and speed the units display for pressure are incorrect. If it displays psi it should be kPa and vice versa. STILL TRUE 1.0.480

• Jan 31 We removed the current app from Apple in order to submit a new app to Apple. This may or may not cause issues with your current app. Hopefully, none. However, if you delete your app and plan to reinstall it, you will not be able to until the new app is approved. So far no problems have been reported. Please see our Facebook group for more details.

• Version 1.0.465

  • the app seems to get stuck when I try to refresh the page. After a forced close everything seems ok again. IPhone XR iOS 13.3.1 app version 1.0.465 (Feb 21)

  • suggestion - Move the Tip to the Remove Ads page ahead of the Restore Purchases button. When subscribing I had no idea what that button was for. Then after subscribing I had no idea why ads were still showing, until I searched here and found this post.

  • If you switch too frequently between locations the app locks. Not that you would normally do that but try cycling between locations back and forth quickly. Fix is to just simply wait and try to select a location. (Thx Kerek R.) (Reb 11)

  • Bug report (iOS v1.0.462) - I got the wrong time when checking radar of international city such as Hong Kong, Beijing, and Tokyo. At the time of screenshot, time in Beijing and Hong Kong should be 12:30 am, and 1:30am in Tokyo. (Thx Yipeng Z.) (Feb 11)

  • Time Zone / Date Bug for international cities: When checking the live radar of some international cities (For example, Tokyo), the time shows on the radar tab is incorrect. In this example, while the time in Tokyo is 8:10am (7:10pm EST), it is showing 20:xx PM in the radar feature. It should be 8:xx AM. (Thx Yipeng Z.) (Feb 11)

  • Bells are turning off on their own in the locations page for some locations. Going from green to white (Feb 9) FIXED in 1.0.465

  • Some people are not receiving alerts at all or are missing alerts (Feb 9)

  • If in landscape mode while viewing radar you need to turn the device to portrait mode to get the menu and buttons as there is not other way to exit. FIXED 1.0.470

• Version 454

  • If locations services is turned off on your device the app can freeze at the IW screen. Please check your device's settings to make sure location services are turned on for the app. Working on a fix for this. This is fixed in 454.

  • Push notifications - one push notification is sent for all locations under the same EC alert instead of one per locations.

  • Looking to an issue with some alerts are missing in the app - like the Extreme Cold Warning in Alberta

  • The top bar (menu, logo and search) is missing in landscape mode.

  • Under Raw Locations the exact location is not given but rather the displayed location.

• If you do not remove ads on and android device (Motoe5) you cannot click on technical settings and see them. The ad covers technical settings. This is true for other devices as well.

  • Version 450 UNKNOWN status in Version 452

• At least one user is being prompted to enter their sandbox account information on iOS. This user has not subscribed to remove ads. It appears to be a beta test iOS related issue. UNKNOWN

• Some people are reporting that the spot where an ad would be at the bottom of the screen is just a white space. UNKNOWN

+ NEW(ER) ISSUES

• For some follow me location in Hamilton Ontario the wrong current conditions and forecasts are show. Note that the Apple Watch is also showing incorrect (but the same) data. Likely related to the data source (Feb 11)

• Jan 21 2020 - We are experiencing issues with our location search. We are working on it and will have it fixed ASAP. You will not be able to add new locations but forecasts for your current location and any locations that you previously added are correct. Also the name that is displayed for your current location may not be correct but you can verify that the app knows where you are by going to the radar.

• Jan 22 2020 - Version 454 is out for Android and will be available soon for iOS. Please note that you may need to delete the app and reinstall if you have problems after letting the app upgrade. Also note that currently the search is limited to cities/towns and postal codes. We are working on changing it so you can do exact addresses again.

• Please note that the latest version for Android is 452 and iOS 451

  • Looking to an issue with some alerts not being present in the app - like the Extreme Cold Warning in Alberta
  • Suggestion for landscape mode on tablet. The day view + should change to a - when open instead of remaining a + (Thanks Andrew M.)

  • In landscape mode when you click on View Hourly Data for a future date it takes you to the current date. It works fine in portrait mode. (Thanks Erin W.)

  • After the predicted high is reached for the day the high temperature displayed on the blue bar for the day is the low. Previously this temperature would follow the current temperature after the high was reached. FIXED in 451
  • Searching for a location - results are sometimes duplicated - appear twice in the list FIXED in 451
  • Scattered showers in the day view does not have an icon. FIXED in 451
  • The white dot indicating that there are more than one page of alerts is not showing up on the white background. It used to on the coloured background of the alerts. FIXED in 451
  • Related to having more than one alert the same heading is being shown for all alerts. In this case Freezing Rain Warning even though the "second page" is for the Special Weather Statement. FIXED in 451
  • 15-minute radar has had some strange animation glitches and we're attempting to address that FIXED
  • Report Weather button in the radar page will work in the next update. FIXED in 451
  • Match the background pictures with the seasons, weather and time of day. FIXED in 451
  • Attempted fixes are coming for "Update location frequency" in the settings. FIXED
  • Fixes coming for odd placement of the > character in the hourly page. FIXED
  • We're going to remove the "Slow internet" notification pop-up at the bottom of the app until we can relax them a bit because it's a fairly complex thing to tweak and we realize it's just annoying for some folks with garbage internet.
  • Change the colour of the text on some backgrounds as it is hard for people to read especially if they are colour blind (white on red for example). This was FIXED in 0.450 - black text on white

• If you have set up security settings to prevent app purchases on iOS the subsequent error messages are vague.

• If you press cancel while trying to remove ads you get a vague error message (Thx Cadie G.).

• Some people report getting an error message when trying to remove ads but it eventually worked.

• For iOS users turning off TouchID can help if you are running into issues. To do this go into Settings > Touch ID & Passcode and turn off using Touch ID for the iTunes and App store. You can turn it back on after you have removed the ads. This is a reported issue with TestFlight that apparently goes away once apps are in production.

• Restarting the app after removing the ads is sometimes needed for the ads to disappear. Also you may need to click on restore purchases.

• If you live in Ottawa, use Ottawa south when you search it, not the main Ottawa location as it's unfortunately outside of any Environment Canada polygon with our location service. Working on a fix for this! *Is this still true after the recent updates

• Ipad air ios 12.1.1 (also true for 12.4.3). Previous build and this one as well. Dropdown menu on top left, can click thru all of the selections but, once clicking on radar, cannot click on any of the others listed. Have to close app and open again. Note that this is only a problem in landscape mode. Portrait mode works. (Thx Brad G.)

• Weather information isn’t updating automatically on this page, only if you go into every location. Working on this!

• Sometimes condition names are larger than the condition name area. Working on a fix! *this could be fixed?

• iPad air running iOS 12.3.1 and IW 409, switching to hours view and try to swipe to change the location the app crashes. Investigating this further. (It only crashes in Portrait mode. In landscape mode it is slow but eventually works.)

• The icons for some weather conditions are showing a sun at night. Mostly cloudy, cloudy and showers are showing the sun. Mostly clear and partly cloudy have a moon. Icons for cloudy and snow showers show a sun.

+ NOTIFICATIONS

• Missing child notificiations and other custom notifications are not visible in the app. You get the notification on your device but when you click on it or open the app it is not there.

• Change the FitBit notification name and icon to better reflect IW. Currently it says com.tornadogps.instantweather. Note that this is under App Notifications in the FitBit app. Works with some of the newer FitBits (For example Charge 3).

• Special weather statement banners blend in with the rest of the screen (either the blue sky of some of the images are the blue day bars). An icon or different coloured font would make them stand out (or a different colour than blue). Icons and an number were added in 1.0.480 so this should no longer be an issue or as much of one.

• In some cases, notifications don't automatically open the associated alert in the app. This won't be an easy fix but we began discussing a fix for this. Implementation likely after launch.

• On the banner bar for a notification (eg. Freezing Rain Warning) indicate how many notifications/alerts there are so you do not need to open up and read the alert to see that there is more than one. (DONE version 1.0.480)
