How the viewing score works
The 0–100 score is an independent guide created for this dashboard. It combines Ontario Parks’ reported colour-change percentage with a nonlinear canopy-retention factor: colour intensity rises as change advances, while the score declines increasingly quickly as leaf fall becomes substantial and reaches zero at 100% leaf fall. A small adjustment reflects the reported dominant hue. Within Ontario, the map uses distance-weighted interpolation between reporting parks and groups the result into five fixed index bands. These zones are regional estimates, not direct observations between parks. Report age is displayed separately so you can judge freshness. The score is not an official Ontario Parks rating, and conditions can change quickly with wind or rain.
