Southern Ontario Outlooks
After piloting our new daily outlooks throughout the winter season and based on the great response we’ve received from everyone, our daily outlooks will continue throughout the spring and summer!
For our daily outlook during the spring and summer, our focus will shift towards covering the thunderstorm threat over the next 3 days along with a long-range outlook for potentially significant events within the next 5 - 7 days. We will also issue outlooks for other inclement summer weather expected within the next 48 hours including rainfall, strong wind gusts (non-thunderstorm related) and extreme heat.

Thunderstorm Outlooks
Thunderstorm outlooks are issued when there is the risk of non-severe or severe thunderstorms in Southern Ontario within the next 3 days.
Outlooks are issued nightly and may be updated in the morning as needed.
The long-range outlook is issued periodically when a particularly significant thunderstorm event is expected within the next 7 days.

Inclement Weather Outlooks
Inclement weather outlooks are issued when heavy rainfall, strong wind gusts or extreme heat is expected to affect Southern Ontario within the next 48 hours.
We assess the conditions within the next 48 hours daily and issue outlooks as needed. The following criteria is used to determine if an outlook is necessary:
Total rainfall over 15mm within the next 48 hours
Wind gusts above 80km/h expected anytime within the next 48 hours
Humidex of 30°C or warmer expected anytime within the next 48 hours.
