Alberta: Thunderstorm Forecast for Sunday, July 16, 2023

A localized strong severe risk is anticipated in a zone extending from just west of Red Deer and up into Grande Prairie during the afternoon and evening hours on Sunday.

Isolated pop-up thunderstorms are expected to develop within this region, and given the strong environment, they have the potential to quickly intensify into severe storms. The primary threat associated with these storms will be very large hail, reaching the size of golf balls or even larger. Damaging wind gusts and heavy rainfall are also possible.

While the tornado risk is not particularly strong, there is a possibility of one or two tornadoes with these storms.
