‘Snow Day’ Forecast: Snow Squalls Threaten to Cancel School Buses in Southern Ontario’s Snowbelt on Thursday

Intense snow squalls have developed east of Lake Huron and southeast of Georgian Bay as of Wednesday evening, resulting in significant snowfall accumulation and reduced visibility in the impacted areas. By Thursday afternoon, there is potential for up to 30cm of snow.
Given the expected substantial accumulation and limited visibility continuing into Thursday morning, school bus cancellations are likely.
The Northern Huron County and Kincardine region, where the worst conditions are anticipated, almost certainly will experience a snow day, with a 90% chance. Surrounding areas, including Perth, Wellington, Grey, Bruce, and Middlesex counties, face a probability of a snow day ranging from 50 to 75%.
Along the Georgian Bay shoreline, Simcoe County's West weather zone has the highest likelihood of a snow day with a 75% chance, while the Central and South weather zones have a 50% chance. Further inland, including London, Kitchener, and York Region, the likelihood of a snow day decreases to a range of 10 to 25%, but it cannot be entirely discounted.
The rest of Southern Ontario has a less than 10% chance of experiencing a snow day on Thursday.
