There is the potential for scattered thunderstorms to develop during the afternoon on Tuesday in Southeastern Saskatchewan. These storms have the possibility of becoming severe before tracking into Manitoba. However, it's important to note that the latest models suggest some lingering rain earlier in the day, which may impact the potential for storm development later in the afternoon. As a result, there is a possibility that the forecasted thunderstorms may not materialize as expected.
If the storms do develop and intensify, there is a risk of severe weather, particularly in locations such as Yorkton, Melville, and Moosomin, where we have put a slight risk on our forecast. The main threats associated with these storms include large hail, ranging from toonie to ping pong ball-sized, strong wind gusts reaching speeds of up to 100 km/h, and localized flash flooding. An isolated tornado can’t be ruled out.
There is an isolated severe thunderstorm risk in Eastern Saskatchewan along the Manitoba border on Tuesday. Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop during the afternoon hours and continue into the evening. All severe threats are possible including large hail, damaging wind gusts and heavy rainfall. An isolated tornado can’t be ruled out either.
Thunderstorms are expected to develop in Alberta and Western Saskatchewan during the late afternoon and evening hours on Monday. There is a slight risk that some of these storms become severe with large hail up to the size of golf balls and 100 km/h wind gusts being the main threats. The highest chance for severe storms includes Maple Creek, Shaunavon, Kindersley and Lloydminster. An isolated tornado can’t be ruled out, but the tornado risk isn’t expected to be overly strong.
